Uploading your point cloud data into Stitch3D is simple and ensures your projects are well-organized and ready for visualization. Follow these steps and guidelines to get started.
Do’s & Don’ts
✅ Do:
- Create a project before uploading point clouds to a project.
- Use supported file types: .LAS, .LAZ, .PLY, .E57.
- Ensure your point cloud uses valid units (feet/meters, not degrees).
❌ Don’t:
- Upload files in unsupported formats (e.g.,
.copc.laz).
- Upload LAS files with waveform data (formats 4, 5, 9, 10)
- Upload point clouds that have points in latitude/longitude as degrees
Step 1: Create a Project
Before you can upload data, you need a project space.
- Click + Project in your Stitch3D dashboard.
- Enter a Project Name (required) and an optional Description.
- Under Coordinate Reference Systems:
- Choose the CRS Unit (International Feet, U.S. Feet, or Meters).
- Add the Horizontal CRS (e.g., EPSG:26910 for NAD83 UTM zone 10N).
- Add the Vertical CRS (e.g., EPSG:5703 for NAVD88 height).
- If you’re unsure, you can leave CRS empty and set it later — but defining it now ensures better navigation inside your point cloud.
