Uploading raster data into Stitch3D is simple and ensures your projects are well-organized and ready for visualization. Follow these steps and guidelines to get started.
Do's & Don'ts
✅ Do:
- Create a project before uploading rasters to a project.
- Use supported file types: .TIF, .TIFF.
- Use a standard CRS with an EPSG code for proper georeferencing.
- Export full-color imagery as RGBA (Red, Green, Blue, Alpha).
- Keep file sizes under 25 GB.
❌ Don't:
- Upload rasters with custom or engineering coordinate systems without a geodetic datum.
- Use YCBCR color space for full-color imagery.
Step 1: Create a Project
Before you can upload data, you need a project space.
- Click + Project in your Stitch3D dashboard.
- Enter a Project Name (required) and an optional Description.
- Under Coordinate Reference Systems:
- Choose the CRS Unit (International Feet, U.S. Feet, or Meters).
- Add the Horizontal CRS (e.g., EPSG:26910 for NAD83 UTM zone 10N).
- Add the Vertical CRS (e.g., EPSG:5703 for NAVD88 height).
- If you're unsure, you can leave CRS empty and set it later — but defining it now ensures better data consistency and a better overall experience in the platform.
Step 2: Upload Your Data
Once your project is created:
- Open the project and click Upload Data.
- Choose Raster from the list.
- Supported formats: TIF, TIFF.
- Maximum file size: 25 GB per file.
- Upload begins immediately, and you'll see progress indicators.
After upload finishes:
- The file is processed to optimize it for fast and efficient viewing in the 2D viewer. During this stage, a processing badge will appear next to the file name.
- Processing time varies and large files can take a while to complete. Most files process and become available in the viewer within 20 min of upload finishing.
- Once processing is complete, you'll receive an email notification confirming the file is ready.
- You can then click on the file inside your project to open and explore it in the 3D viewer.
