Why This Setting Exists

When you upload a point cloud, we automatically try to detect its unit from metadata (CRS, EPSG, scale factors, etc.).

However, some files:

• Have no CRS
• Contain incomplete metadata
• Are exported from CAD/Revit without unit info
• Are local scans without georeferencing

In these cases, we cannot reliably determine whether coordinates represent meters, feet, millimeters, etc.

To ensure measurement accuracy, you can manually define the Base Unit.

What “Base Unit” Means

The Base Unit defines how coordinate values are interpreted:

“1 coordinate unit equals ___ in real-world measurement.”

Example:

If Base Unit = Meters

A coordinate difference of 10 = 10 meters

If Base Unit = Feet

A coordinate difference of 10 = 10 feet
