Why This Setting Exists

When you upload a point cloud, we automatically try to detect its unit from metadata (CRS, EPSG, scale factors, etc.).

However, some files:

In these cases, we cannot reliably determine whether coordinates represent meters, feet, millimeters, etc.

To ensure measurement accuracy, you can manually define the Base Unit.


What β€œBase Unit” Means

The Base Unit defines how coordinate values are interpreted:

β€œ1 coordinate unit equals ___ in real-world measurement.”

Example:

If Base Unit = Meters

A coordinate difference of 10 = 10 meters

If Base Unit = Feet

A coordinate difference of 10 = 10 feet
