Use the Base Map tool to overlay a georeferenced point cloud on either a Satellite or Street Map.

Confirm that the point cloud is georeferenced.

  1. If a point cloud is georeferenced, the coordinate reference system (CRS) will appear in the ribbon at the bottom of the viewer as well as in the ‘Information’ section of the Settings panel. Only georeferenced point clouds can be visualized with a base map.

  1. The Base Map icon will also appear at the bottom left corner of the viewer. Hover over the Base Map Icon to select either ‘Street’ or ‘Satellite’ base map options. The default base map is ‘Satellite’.

  1. The base map will appear as a 3D map aligned with the georeferenced point cloud according to its CRS information.

  1. To turn the base map off, simply click on the Base Map icon or toggle off the base map selection.

Adjust the Base Map

  1. If the point cloud is not properly aligned with the underlying Base Map, go to ‘Navigation’ in ‘Settings’ and use the ‘Adjust Map Height’ slider to align the point cloud with the Base Map.
